| U-1 engine problem was less severe than thought |
What's the difference between $200 and $100,000? The hydroplane equivalent of a fan belt.
That's the part that broke down and affected the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison during the final heat of the Chevrolet Cup at Seafair two weeks ago. The "bleed blower" was damaged when the Oberto briefly took flight, causing the temperature in the turbine engine to fluctuate wildly afterwards.
Despite the difficulties, driver Steve David babied the Oberto across the finish line to finish sixth overall. But the veteran driver was sure that the team's best engine was cooked by the excessive heat. Wednesday, August 19, 2009
