SEATTLE - After incurring one penalty and risking damage in two other heats, Steve David decided he'd had enough of the "park and start" strategy and it was time to pull out the old "slingshot."

David laid far behind the field at the start of Sunday's Albert Lee Cup at Seafair, then rocketed around four trolling boats to steal lane one and power the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison to a convincing win on Lake Washington in Seattle on Sunday.

In the process David also seized the Air National Guard H1 Unlimited National High Points lead.

It was the exact same strategy David employed last year to win at Seattle and it worked nearly identically this year.

"We tried four different starts today and saved that one for the final," said David, who has now won the last three Albert Lee Cups at Seafair and four of the last six races at Seattle. "I tried it once earlier but the engine stalled for a moment and I couldn't make it work."
