Steve David posted the fastest lap of day and made it hold up, driving the hometown U-1 Oh Boy! | Regatta's new PA announcer just a lump off the old Cole |
There are not many people who can claim the hydroplane lineage of Dan Cole. His father, the late Phil Cole, was a major mover and shaker in the sport during its Golden Era in the 1950s, 60s and 70s and big brother Sam is currently the chairman of H1 Unlimited. Now Dan is ready to carve out his own niche in a way that everybody will be able to hear. The Madisonian is the new voice of the Madison Regatta and will be booming his distinctive voice across the PA system all weekend. Thursday, July 01, 2010

| Time has been Kind |
At an age when most men are contemplating retirement, Dave Villwock and Steve David are still doing what they love, even if that means piloting a 6,000-pound Unlimited hydroplane at 200 mph. The two 56-year-old drivers are the elder statesmen of the H1 Unlimited series and neither show signs of slowing down. Villwock enters the 2010 season just three victories shy of the all-time record and David has won four of the past five driver's championships and the last two National High Points crowns.
